Year of Super SeaHorse 50

Can anyone tell me what year and any info about my out board? Model# V4SL 11B serial# 1971004 is it a 50hp? It has gold trim and horse on the side of the hood. Does any one have a wiring diagram for this motor? I just got it and it needs lots of work. Does it have points? I didn't see any under the cap. (first time boat owner) Thanx in advance

Your motor is a 59.<br />It has points, set them to .020.<br /> Dont attempt any work without a manual.It<br />will have the wiring diagram you need as well as specs and repair procedures.<br /> You can get one at the bottom of the page.<br /> NAPA auto parts,amazon.com etc.<br /> If you want a reprint factory manual<br />try www.kencook.com, be prepared to dig deep.<br /> If you dont want to spend the dough try the <br />library.<br /> Specs:50 hp @ 4,000 rpm,70.7 cu. in.,J4C plugs @<br />.030.
