Year of this Jhonson 6hp CD-23E ?

How can I get the manual stater gear to mesh corectly into Flyweel geer. It eats the plastic gear as I pull start.

Hi Matt and Welcome,<br /><br />I don't know the answer to your problem, but others will soon. As for the year, it's a 1966 model.

I had the same problem. I fixed mine by removing the starter assembly, punch out the roll pin and drill a new hole 5mm up from the old one at right angles to it, put the plastic gear back and roll pin. Has worked fine for 2 years now without a problem.

Thanks people this is a great site,Only took me 1 hour the Manual starter now is better than new..
