Year range for 60HP Ev - srvc manual only covers one year?

I can't find this information here or in a general search (but prolly how I'm searching). I have an '83 Johnson 60HP. The factory manual covers 81-85 model years. I recently bought a '95 60HP Evinrude (with Power T/T!!!). I got the factory service manual, but according to the model numbers, it only covers 1995 (as best I can tell). I was interested in getting a parts motor and found an '88 VRO which looks very similar. I surveyed 10 parts at random and they seem to cover the range (from mid-80s to mid-90s). Is it hit or miss on the parts? Is there a thread or resource which shows what motors are the "same" in terms of parts? I'm sure it's somewhere, but I can't find anything other matches for model# to year? Thanks in advance for any direction!

I did 10 parts randomly. They all appeared to be the same. I was looking for an actual parts motor - so that all parts are basically x-change. The fact that the service manual covers only my year leads me to believe perhaps there are differences. If I got an '88 VRO 60HP, could I rebuild carbs, and just swap when ready? Are the lower units exactly the same (so I could have one serviced while running the other, then just swap)? As I said, the '83 fits in a range of compatible engines (81-85).... Does this clarify what I'm asking? I guess there's got go be some resource which gives year and models which are compatible?

Try checking the pn's of the complete assys, i.e. complete LU, carb, etc. Should give you an idea of at least which major parts are/are not interchangeable.
