I'm looking to buy a 1965 Larson 16' that has been semi restored, looks good and feels solid. The motor is a 55 hp Evinrude. The guy claims it is a 1980's (1985 or 87 I think) but it looks a little older than that to me so I went looking around on the internet to see what I could find. I couldn't find a model past 1979 so I was wondering if the 55 hp even made it into the '80s at all?

If I remember right the 55 morphed into the 60 in the 80's, a picture would help, especially if you can get a shot of the ID plate with the numbers on it. marineengine.com does not list a manual newer than 1979 for the 55 rude.

The model number is 55673E. Serial number is E0001222. Can't upload a pic at the moment. Any thoughts?

I just looked at the impellers listed for sale, right here on iboats.

That style of model number was used prior to 1980.

One from the 80's would have a model number similar to VE55RLEDA
with the 2 letters in the ED position being a code for the year.

The '68 and '69s were 3 cylinder models.
