Hi Folks,
I am running a ballistic 14 x 24 on my VMax Yammie which is turning arouond 5200 WOT. I run accross a great deal on a 4 blade solas with agressive cupping. I havn't purchased the prop yet because I was hoping to get some expert opinions.. I think...this will increase my RPM range, but I'm not sure what it will do to the top end and performance. Ohh...its a 150 mounted on a 17'6 Javelin.(62 GPS). Any suggestions would be appreciated. ...Jerry

Re: Yet another prop question

If the boat, you and the motor are balanced out sitting still and you can WOT in the trim range. A local prop shop is your best help. Loaner props till you max. out. Works for our guys.

Re: Yet another prop question

Is your Ballistic 3 or 4 blade??? it should be 13-3/4 or 14-1/4 to 14-1/2 in diameter...
If yours is a 3 blade, the Solas will likely be about the same speed maybe a bit faster, given the same engine heigth.
Of the Ballistics, the 4 blade run high is the only one they have that produces some good numbers compared to most others...

Re: Yet another prop question

I went ahead and purchased the Solas. Its a 14 x 24 4 blade and run it today. It popped my boat out of the hole in just a few seconds with no change in WOT RPM, so I started moving the Jack plate up. I ended up with the JP close to maxed (Maybe 1/2 left) with almost no change in the hole shot. My Yammie is running 5400 WOT, reading 60 MPH GPS. I should have done this a long time ago. The Ballistic is I guess a 14.25 x 24 3 blade. Its has actually been a good prop but it would have never got me up on plane with the JP set to what it is now. Thanks for the advice and tips. This is a great place for rookies like me.
