Anyone out there in iboat land ever use Suzuki TCW3 oil.Reason I'm asking is last week I bought a gallon of it from the only Suzuki dealer locally because of convenience.(close to the house). Anyway when I opened the oil to begin adding ,for some reason I smelled something. So,I decided to whiff the gallon jug of oil and WOW.Smelled like what I can only describe as ammonia.Anyone ever use this stuff or have any comments.Never smelled any TCW3 oil like that before and it sort of concerns me as to whether I should use it.If anyone out there presently has a jug of Suzuki TCW3 oil ,I would sure appreciate if you could check yours and see if it smells the same way.Better yet,if you have some that smells that way all the time and run it with no ill effects.

Thanks for any comments .BTW ,place I got it from is closed until Monday.I plan to bring it by and let them smell it and possibly compare to some other containers of the same.Maybe they got some in the service shop opened already.

Re: Yet another TCW3 question.

Different oil additive formulations will have various odors. Years back, OMC used two different oil blenders for their TC-W3 lubricants. One version had a strong ammonia smell and the other had a regular oily smell. Texaco Havoline oil has a strong kerosene smell. Each manufacture's blend will tickle your olifactory system in a different way.

Re: Yet another TCW3 question.

Thanks for your comments seahorse.Apparently Suzuki is using a different refiner of their TCW3 oil than in recent past.I've bought and used it before with no ill effects.Only thing that has me concerned with this jug is the magnitude of the smell.I mean you have to pull your nose away from it.It's that strong.I'm wondering if this stuff isn't for lack of a better description,"a bad batch."

When I owned a Suzi (DT-140) I bought oil from the Suz. dealer. It smelled, as you describe.

I used plenty of it. No problems from that-had other non related though.
