I'm not getting anything done one my boat right now. In calender, yesterday was first day of spring here, but we got 5" of snow sunday, 15" yesterday and 5" today. Im getting tired of digging cars and house out every morning, and now its starting to get windy ! Hard to find a spot to pile it up soon. Many winters we dont get snow at all, but were catching up now. How's your weather ??

I got another 9" of the @%$&(^$#^& white stuff yesterday! First day of spring is March 21 for us.

The only positive is that we seem to be getting a warm spell between the storms that melts most of it away so we do have a place to put it.

I was hoping to have my plywood cut for the floors and transom by now. I haven't been able to get to the boat to make a template yet!

I went to check mine out a bit ago, :( icicles hanging off the cover that has about 6" on it. Looked at my tires on the trailer. All six of them are rubbing against the fenders. I sure don't like all that weight on it, but not much I can do.

I think the Great Lakes is a magnet for cold snowy weather. Friggen lake effect.

We have had a lot this year too. I usually like to open up the cover to air it out every weekend, have not been able to do that for a while. So I just keep sweeping off the snow to keep it from weighing it down too much! I used 4 of those moisture absorber buckets so I should be OK with not having moisture build up inside. Was going to put vents in the cover but was concerned about snow blowing in.

Tinkerer, Snow is WONDERFUL, it is so pretty, especially in March. I have an Idea. Out of the kindness of my heart I will swap houses with you from Jan first through April first every year just so you can enjoy this great pleasure. :D

One More Cast

Very kind of you.

I may not know what snow is, but I know a snow job when I see one! :D

You wouldn't like it here from Jan to April anyway. Stay outside too long and you get sunburnt. Or you have to slop sunblock cream on yourself and get all yucky. Can't get to sleep without a fan on some nights. Heat makes you drink lots of beer. Women walking around with hardly anything on. Some days it's too windy to get a boat out. Also lots of extra work cleaning the swimming pool.

Then again, you have to shovel snow while I'm setting up my auto-cleaner on the swimming pool.

I guess you have to do a bit of work up there to stave off cabin fever instead of just lying around naked on bear skin rugs in front of the roaring log fire.

Record year here on Cape Cod USA complete with the Blizzard of 03 3' of snow and a steady 50mph wind. Now its like a frozen tunda out there in March. My best winter investment...a door for the shrinkwrap so I can crawl up the ladder into the boat and pray for warm weather :)
TH
Red Sox are playing so were gettin there.

A few weeks ago I pulled my car out of the garage to leave for work. I noticed that the temp display in the car was dropping fast. When I got to the end of my driveway it as reading about -12. Moments later I heard a "tick" sound and my windshield cracked horizally for about 8".

Oh, crap.

Never saw a windshield crack from the cold before. The display eventually read -18.

So I guess I shouldn't tell you about our temps in the 50's, no snow at all on the ground, and has been sunny for the last month plus....

Re: You got snow ??

Wow Mark, sorry about your windshield crack. But it does make sense if you pull your vehicle out of a heated garage into instant cold. My bet is the custom install of a new windshield may have better stress relief than what was performed at the factory. You might have the new installer look for metal intrusions into the windshield space, and make sure the windshield is bedded and 'floating' in its space.

As for heated garages, around here, with all the salt, they are particularly bad on vehicles. Each time the moisture imbedded salt warms on the metal, it has a greater capacity to corrode than when frozen. So on vehicles I like, I never store in heat when I use them daily. On some of my work vans, I do store inside, but that's more for vandalism's sake than to warm 'em.

Good luck, and I always enjoy your posts, and I'm quite impressed with your Niagara.

Oh weather report... melting fast, with highs in the high 30s(F) cooling to highs in the mid 20s(F) later in the week...

fp

Funpilot I saved my boat from your state of affairs. :)
Instead of wet and cold its now hot and dry. :)

Mark I got a tick on my new at the time 1993 Ford Ranger back in 92. Was the thirtieth off the line. When Rangers got rounded. The next morning was colder than the garage the crack went from 1 side to the other in minutes about 60 inches long. I had only had the truck 3 weeks!
