upgraded from 150 hp optimax, to a 225hp optimax proxs. Current prop is my old prop, Mercury enertia, 14P. Motor is still in breakin hours, double oiling for 4-6 hours, I'm on hour 5. When I do a few wot blips of the throttle, with engine trimmed all the way down, I get up to almost 6000 rpm. If I were to trim up, it would go over 6000, and one time it beeped on me. So what prop should I go up to? 15X15 enertia? Or should I try a mirage plus? Mph are gps at 44 mph just me on the boat, full gas. Family of 6, about 41 mph. Tritoon in my signature is my boat.

Any help greatly appreciated!

At hole shot when fully trimmed down, bow will plow down. With load perfectly distributed on deck, trim bit upward, full throttle, when jumping on plane reduce trim for combo to run parallel to water level. Check if works for you once engine has ended its break in period. Being a family leisure combo, dial a prop thar revs at near full wot revs. Just throtthle less when with fewer boaters on board or rev limiter will kick in prematurely.

I'm looking for a prop suggestion, I know that a 225 hp outboard can spin more than a 14P prop, I'm hitting rev limiter with people on board and engine still in break in period. So was thinking 15 or 16P, looking for suggestions. I know that the motor trimmed down with cause stern lift, but the manufacturer recommends that I leave motor trimmed down for breakin. I trimmed it up once to see what happened and I instantly hit rev limiter, so my 14p needs to go. Thanks for the suggestions.

Better end break in period with current prop, then work maximizing + pitch to be propped right. If possible check with a prop shop to lend a 16 and test it at wot while family loaded. If rev limiter still kicks in, need more pitch. Whichever + prop pitch you go for will need to be water tested at wot and load.
