We have a Lowrance GPS/sonar combo unit. Just curious. Do you use "auto sensitivity" or do you manually set it? If manual, at what percent do you set it and why? Thanks. -Ken

I'm running a Furuno, what's auto-mode?:D

In reality sensitivity is actually a filter. Since FF are fixed output devices and you can't vary the power output of the signal you have to vary the filtering. The more sensitivity you use the less filtering of the return is being done.

In shallow water (3-25' or so) I turn the sense all the way down (too much output power) and in water 900-1000' deep (need all the power I can get) I have sense turned all the way on (basically filtering off).

At my normal depths (40-70') I?m typically running 50-60% sense. Your mileage may vary:):)
