In the last two weeks we seem to be on a streak of youths killing each other over very minor things

And these are just kids from regular homes killing over missing cell phones, looking at somebody’s girl friend the wrong way, all nothing turning into death and ruined lives and families

Too many very important, professional working mothers, along with the permissive values spawned by you know who, that allow these kids to be out on their own, ill nurtured and with egos that have been falsely catered to. It's that simple tommays. No mystery here for those that are willing to open their eyes.

I don't know why,but after sundown,the inner city of Rochester,NY turns into an upstate killing field complete with drive by shootings,innocent bystanders being killed and thugs shooting into houses through locked doors,killing women and children.Most of these shootings here are done because of really minor squabbles that trigger the macho thing.
The weird thing is that only a few miles away,people never even need to lock their doors.
For a while,around the turn of the century,violent crime was down a bit.Now it is right up there again like Tucson and Dodge city in the wild west movies.

This above and beyond the common gang problems that plague certain areas and moveing into the places you dont need to lock your doors

Dodge city is about right, the last one and 19 and 19 year chased down a car with rolling gunfire killing the 18 year old driver to rob him

From the time these kids were really young they were taught there is no right or wrong. However they felt was OK. Children brought up without disipline, values, and correction grow up with no conscience.

It does contribute to the kind of shootings going on in Rochester. It is even happening in Elmira. It is drug related but traces its roots to no home life and family values.

I'd also add schooling. Public, private and "higher" education.

From the time these kids were really young they were taught there is no right or wrong. However they felt was OK. Children brought up without disipline, values, and correction grow up with no conscience.

That coupled with the "gangsta" culture they are fed 24/7 on the boob tube - is a recipe for disaster.

Speaking with my father yesterday, 72 years young, conservative, mild mannered, almost meek, never favored guns in the home, living on the edge of Milwaukee for 50 years;

expressed his concern for all the violence and the NEED for a concealed carry law in Wisconsin. He said, so far they have been nice enough to keep most of it within Milwaukee county, and we need to make sure it stays there. I never thought I would see the day that he said something like that.

Didn't need to read your article 12. If the purpose of posting this subject was a form of a question, we have to ask the color of the stripes of judiciary who are slowly removing parents ability to discipline.

In the good old days of my youth, important differences (like why did you look at my girlfriend that way?) were solved the civilized way, with tire irons and links of chain.

Nowadays they are solved with 9 mm's. It is called progress!

PW, just out of curiosity, what do you think the effect of most Citizens, in good standing, being armed with concealed carry permits be on drive by shootings? Do you think there would be more or less?

Haut, the "Wild West" wasn't as wild as the movies portend... in a lot of cases the bad guys got shot from 3 or more directions by armed "Citizens". I'm thinking the same would happen today if all "good" Citizens could get a concealed carry license as a given.... Gang bangers would think twice before they did any "banging" if they knew there were 20 or 30 armed Citz within range.

Of course "gun control" libbers will disagree, and that is their right, but common sense should tell you........

I agree that drive by shootings would stay the same...............other shootings on the other hand would probably decline.

Unless those 20 to 30 armed citezens are at their front doors on "drive by" watch, they arent going to make a difference. Nor will the victim having a gun. If he is sitting in his living room watching tv, how could he possible defend himself from the drive by.................its not possible.

Pony, most drive by's are on city streets, sometimes crowded streets as the “target” is going about his/hers nightly/daily biz... or the "just for the hell of it" thrill kill... often with the drive by car stopping briefly to unload on them...

Granted the random neighborhood shootum ups wouldn't be much affected by armed Citizenry, but the street mugging, hold ups, break ins, and all of the other armed crimes we are assaulted with daily would almost cease to exist if most of us were armed...... and we would have a much more polite society.... IMNSHO. 8)

I was aiming my first comment at PW’s assertion That “It's Charleton Heston's fault”... That is just plain bunk from the type of people that want to disarm the American people.... which, as we all know, is against the Constitution, and the first move towards Dictatorship.
