My question concerns Anodes for Mercrusier sterndrive. Recently at a yard sale I found a couple packages of Genuine Quicksilver Anode Nuts, Quicksliver Part number 55989Q 9. These are the two which thread onto the studs of the sterndrive of Alpha 1. They are not zinc and I believe they are aluminum because of their light weight. Don't know if they are good for saltwater or only freshwater. My boat slips in saltwater for the boating season. In the past I have always used zinc material. However $3.00 for a pack of 2 vs. $8.00 each for the zincs at West Marine, I purchased these. My question is will the aluminum be as effective as the zinc..?? I contacted a couple of mercrusier dealers and I'm receiving conflicting answers. Any response would be appreciated...!!

Aluminum anodes are what is generally preferred for salt water.
