I am stripping my starcraft, and on the outside of the transom where there was what looked to be a piece of plywood attached.... there is a mint green looking paint applied... it makes me think it is an extra thick layer of zinch chromate maybe....the sheet aluminum there is in perfect condition, no pitting at all!

if it isn't zinc chromate, id like to know what it is , so I can reapply it when it comes time to paint.

I didnt have any mint green on the outside of mine, I the whole Inside has it. Not sure if its zinc, or another form of primer. Its under the splash well, was on inside transom wood, and all up the inside walls.

I dont think it was factory though since it was on the transom wood and that had been replaced from the original already.

Probably zinc chromate primer being on aluminum. But they sell it at NAPA auto parts stores. A bit pricey but well worth it too.

Self Etching primer does a great job and it's cheap not to mention you don't need to use alodine on totally CLEAN AL before applying like zinc primer.
