Hi, we just got a new swim platform for our boat and I am wondering if there should be zinks on the round SS support tubes. Also should the fasteners holding the platform to the transom be connected to the boat's bonding system?

I have zinked and bonded swim platforms in the past, but wonder if its necessary. One one hand there is no electricity associated with the platform, but it is in the water. Any thoughts ?

I think zincs would be good in salt water. Are the fasteners bolted into the transom? If so I would use 3M 5200 to keep water tight.

I replaced 3 of the four SS support tubes on our swim grid as they were rotted out at the water level.
I do not remember what grade of pipe we used , but it was fairly thick wall as SS pipe goes.

Does the boat stay in the water fulltime? If not (trailered), more than likely it's not necessary...unless there some other electrical/bonding issuue with your boat that needs to be addressed.
