Zodiac C260 won't plane

I bought a new Zodiac C260 air deck. Using a Suzuki 5 hp 2-stroke. It is very difficult to get it to plane with one person. Recently, I put my Suzuki on a Saturn 290 air floor. The Saturn flies with the same engine. No problem planing.

How is this possible? Should I get trim tabs?

Any suggestions appreciated.

The foot makes the difference. The larger boat has more surface area in contact with the water making it more buoyant with your weight.

Do you think those Zodiac trim tabs that extend the surface area would help?

It's a cheat, but it might...I wouldn't use the Zodiac tabs though. Over priced and really small. I would recommend doing a web search for an alternative set of tabs.

Thanks for your help.

I have a related question for you since you seem to know Tohatsu: I am considering buying an 8B 8 hp 2-stroke Tohatsu. Can I upgrade that to 9.8?
Do I need to buy a whole new carb, or just jets? How much would it cost?

Thanks

You would need a new engine block too....It's not worth it.
