Zodiac Self Bailer Diaphragm replacement

I bought two new diaphragms for my MK II C. One had fallen out and the other was splitting. The new diaphragms have insert pegs (not sure what the center piece is called) slightly larger than the one I removed. I can't seem to get it started into the hole.

Do I need to remove part of the floor at the transom and pull these into place or is there a way I can push them hard enough to snap them in? I've never had the floor out and will probably have to take it to a dealer if this is the case.

Thanks

I found the replacements had a larger stem and I had to drill out the holes. I would bet you could use tiny needle nose pliers with a bend (Think surgical tools) to reach in and grab the stem to pull it in. Otherwise unless you can pull the holders out and reglue the holders back in place it will require removing the floor. All that is required to remove part of the floor is to deflate the tubes.

Small curved forceps worked for me. The Center rubber stem pulls through the hole and sets into the diaphram cage easily. I wouldn't drill the hole bigger, the rubber valve piece may get lost when in use under way.

i too used a curved needle nose plier to do it with the floor in. it just wouldn't "push in"
