its a 14' 86 bayliner w/ an 86 force 50 hp it's just bin redone washed and polished i belive the transom height is 20". i dont know if its long or short shaft. i boat this boat from a friend and it worked fine last year early then this problem started as far as i know nothing been changed on the boat since then. thought it was a prop prob.but i now think gears or linkage maybe. i dont know a lot about engines im going buy the manual.

spitz666

I hate to keep running the prop thing into the ground, but it can only be the prop or cavitation of the prop that's causing your problem. The lower unit is either in gear or out of gear. Nothing to slip inside the gear housing that wouldn't make some bad noises if it were. Scribe a mark on the prop hub and the prop housing and take it out for a run. When you pull it back out, check to see if the marks still line up. If not, the hub is still slipping. It wouldn't be the first time a hub was not installed correctly from the manufactuer. Also, where is your cavitation plate located in relation to the bottom of the hull? (See picture below). This may determine if the prop is "Blowing Out" on take off. Also, do you have power Tilt & Trim? Is the lower unit tucked in toward the boat when you take off? Let us know what you come up with.
