Me again, this is getting crazy. I havent fixed the starting problem yet but have encountered a new problem that has to be fixed 1st. for those that was helping I still am not sure if I am getting spark but I think i got a short or something somewhere. heres what happened.

I tried to start the boat but i got a click and that was it this morning. The battery is new and charged. So i checked the starter connections. I took the starter off to tighten the stud that runs up in the bottom of it up( somehow it came loose). So i put it back on and i still get a click. I then noticed some smoke coming off my battery terminal and I cant figure this out. My buddy said he is pretty sure it is a short or ground out some where but where could it be
. I started testing for power to wires while the battery was disconnected completly and did find that this wire was still saying it had power. No
now there is nothing connected to the battery at all so is this right? Also its only when I turn the key that the smoke happens? Please any suggestions at what to try or do. Thanks to all so much you all have helped me aot the pst few weeks.
