Re: need help with specialty tool
not usually
we made several over the years.
the neatest one I saw was for a v6 yamaha in rio chico venezuela. it was the front locking hub from a toyota with 3/8ths nuts and bolts. fit right in welded a shaft to it and volia, instant tool. I almost died laughing but it worked. I made one once with a piece of 1/4 flat stock about 4" wide. bored(actually burned) a hole in the middle and drilled 2 1/2" inch holes on the correct circle used 1/2 bolts and nuts and installed the ring. here in the salt pond I dont even attempt to remove them. I just carefully drill 3 1/4" holes in the nut, 2 side by side and the third about 120* away, and crack them ou. dont hit the carrier threads and bullit point bits work the best as the cut very flat holes and wont walk. its amazing what you can do on a saturday night with an oxy/acetyle rig and some drill bits and a six inch set of calipers. but we fished the tourney the next day.
