The wife can't start the van. Battery is dead. I charge the battery over night but it just groans a little.
Take battery with me to work and get a new battery this morning.
I install new battery in van and still no go. Dome lights don't even come on.Yep, postive cable to positive and neg to neg. I get out my 12 volt tester and no light when I touch the cable ends. It lights when I stick it on the top of the posts.
This is where stupid happens. I look and see that I forgot to take the plastic cover off the negative terminal before I installed the cable. DUH!!! Problem solved.

OK since you are man enough to admit it I will tell you my similar story. One time I was fishing with a friend who was extremely serious about catching fish. It was one of those fall days when we were getting tons of hits on our spinnerbaits. He was catching aa bunch of fish but it seemed I couldn't set the hook to save my life. He said let me see your spinnerbait so I showed it to him and he discovered I had left the little plastic protector on the hook! I have never lived that one down! :^
