The half-life of the almost-quote seems to be the coin of the realm on this topic...huh, guys?

Bob,

Why don't you complete the quote? Then, since I must have taken it out of its context, explain what you believe he meant by it.

CJY, I believe that a battle is one operation in a war. There can be many battles before a war is over. Hence the old saying" we won the battle but lost the war". Don't take that as a quote, it was an illustration only.

Re: What is going on here

Dubya said that the battle to depose Saddam was over, CJY.

This thread has to do with the war on terror.

You taking lessons on out of context bashes from TXS?

You really look a lot dumber than you are when you do that.

PW,

A person who leaks a story without the stones to put his or her name to it is a coward not a patriot. A patriot is proud of their mission and has the courage of their convictions to stand and be counted.

What you are describing is a spy and they can be shot during a time of war. While some celebrate their cowardise for political reasons, they make me physically ill.

Re: What is going on here

JB,

Good one, when cornered, come out with the personal attack......My quote of W was not out of context. He said we prevailed in Iraq. There is terror in Iraq, correct? Hindsight is 20/20. It was just another stupid thing W said during his tenure as Prez.

Check the dates JB. W made his "In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed," on may 2, 2003. Hussein was captured in December of 2003. Just to be clear on this JB, W claimed we prevailed...and then Hussein was captured 7 months later. The battle to "depose Saddam" was not yet over. My question to you JB, how can W declare "the battle to depose Saddam was over," when he had not been captured?

Rotten,

I agree, many battles make up a war...typically. However, W did not say the "battle of Fellujah," or the battle of any other area of Iraq." He said the "battle of Iraq." He should give more thought to his words before allowing them to leave his mouth.

Really, I could care less regarding what he says or how he says it. My issue is that millions of angry Muslims are listening. They are looking for reasons to fight us.They are empowered by his poor use of words. "I say, bring em on," "Crusade," are just a few more examples.

Hope we make it to the next administration.

I share your concern, TX.

With our foreign policy team that is in place, we just went thru the bloodiest month in Iraq ever since our involvement, and it hardy makes page 4 in the newspapers with all the other stuff in the headlines. We have Israel about to go to a land war with the one democracy in the region we support, we seem to be basically Absent, and we have romblings from the neocons and others that we need an all out war with Iran and Syria.

Oil is at $80 a barrel, we have no credible plan to deal with it, except to continue to pay and fund both sides of this "war on terror".

And the mantra from those in charge is "Stay the Course"

Heaven help Us. We definitely need divine intervention

And I hope we "stay the course".
I find it bitterly ironic that you complain of the drive-by media's coverage regarding Iraqi-front body counts, as the good news in that theatre has been buried on the back pages of your media since the opening slavos on this war on Islamic terror!!!
Gross!

I guess you've been spoiled by the daily offerings of "if it bleeds, it leads" drive-by media offerings...I find it telling in addition to ironic.
Some things cannot be spun without giving-away your true allegiances.

Re: What is going on here

"doing that makes you look dumber than you are".

Gosh, CJY, I intended that as a compliment.

"We are not at war, the war is over W said so and I heard him" said TXS.

W did not say that, I merely reported what W said. The Iraq government was deposed and the President said so.

Quit cherrypicking out of context accusations.

You really look a lot dumber than you are when you do that.

Come on CJY, get the head outa the sand.
These people don't need a reason. They will fight anyone for just being there. You don't agree with them, they will fight ya.
They don't need a reason. They live for it.

SBN, I disagree. There are some willing to die as we speak, but as a whole, your statement is untrue. More will get on board with similar ignorant statements made by W.

"Quit cherrypicking out of context accusations."

If you enter them into the thread, they are fair play. Please don't enter them if you want us to ignore the message in them.

You really look a lot dumber than you are when you do that. And I mean this with the same intent as you did.

Re: What is going on here

It is the CIC's job to empower OUR troops, motivate OUR troops and congradulate them when he see's fit. We want to motivate our troops to do their best and feel appreciated for the job they are doing instead of ignored or oppressed as in the case of several unwarranted accusations, like the Nazi analogy or calling our troops guilty without due process. That is highly unmotivating.

Now lets look at who we are worried about offending. They are people who think that there are 72 virgins waiting for them when they blow themselves up, they are people who send their children to do their dirty work and to committ suicide in the name of a religion they couldn't possibly understand, they are people who hide among civilians like cowards, they are people who murder because they don't like a cartoon, they are people who murder over false news stories about the abuse of a book, they are people who blow up civilians who are members of their own belief system to make a point. Worried about offending them? Our EXISTANCE offends them, what we say is irrelavant.

GW is right on the mark, it is the PC media who haven't a clue who the enemy is, what motivates them, or who the good guys are. And that is truely a sad state of affairs.

Re: What is going on here

CJY. I didn't open the off topic stuff. TXS did. I merely responded.

Then you took it farther off topic.

This thread is about surveillance of international communications by suspected enemies. It is not about my President or Iraq or even the outing of a CIA Officer.

You sound like a woman in an argument for which she has no answer, so she attacks on an entirely different subject.

Well, no. TXS did that. You merely jumped on his bandwagon.

Actually, even participating in this discussion makes me look a lot dumber than I really am.

What else do we expect?
There is never a thread in DC that stays on topic anymore, why should this one be different.

Re: What is going on here

JB,

For the record, your last 3 statements were off-topic. I would respond to them....well, I better not do that. Why is it you can respond to txs off-topic statements, but I cannot respond to your off-topic response without you making this personal or throwing a fit?

I think the "woman in an argument" shoe fits you well, JB. When the going gets tough, you scream foul.

If you don't want me to respond to your off-topic response, please don't type it and all will be well.
