OMC Cobra 3.0L Starter Wiring

My father has a Bayliner 20 ft circa 1987 with OMC Cobra 3.0L engine. He pulled the starter and had it repaired. When he re-installed it, he couldn't find his homemade wiring diagram.

It doesn't look correctly wired to me but I have no idea what should go where. Needless to say, it's not working.

Can anyone help? A picture is worth a thousand words, but I'll settle for a hundred words if they will help me wire this thing up.

A. Should have 3 red cables. One of them is the main battery cable.
B. Should be Yellow/red stripe wire
D. Should be Purple/black stripe wire.

Well, he's got all the "big" wires, that is the red battery cable, and two other black large wires connected to the large post on the solenoid. There's two smaller wires on two smaller posts...one goes up to the coil and the other elsewhere.

I'm afraid that's all I can describe. I'm on my way back to Seattle (my father and the boat lives in southern Colorado). I could ask him to take a pic and email it to me...

Hey, I know this post is nearing 20 years old, but we're having the same issue on the same boat. The images on this thread won't load for me, maybe because of the age of the thread or something. Did you ever solve the problem? Would you be willing to help me figure the wiring for my own starter out?

Thank you for the reply! I think the posts on my solenoid are set up differently though. I have two larger posts, one runs to the starter motor, and two smaller posts.
