This is a bit too freaky to just ignore and too strange to understand out of hand.
Are these the kids who vandalize the bathrooms?Why did these kids not refuse to pee in front of an audience? who is this whacko who tells them to do this? Why does the schoolboard not make arrangements to make its decisions possible to execute?

What would I do? I would ask the School Board to post a monitor in the bathrooms or recind the policy.

I say put a bathroom monitor in there for the kids. It never ceases to amaze me the intellect of some of our teachers. :=

too freaky is right.

"Are these the kids...?" irrelevant - the escort policy doesn't just prevent vandalism, it also protects the innocent from suspicion - besides which if they knew who done it...

"Why did these kids not refuse...?" who knows what goes on in the mind of an 8th grader.

"who is this whacko...?" that's the real question!

"Why does the schoolboard not...?" this is just a guess...could it be that they've never been or forgot what it's like to be or don't get any input from teachers when they set policy? will they learn from this incident?

What would I do? Have a conversation with the principal. Insist on an investigation of the whacko - it's not enough to dismiss him - he'll just to get another job in another school. don't know what else.

other question: wonder what he'd of done if they'd been girls...

The teacher is not to blame. Fire the idiot administrators! And tell the dang lawyers to form a line outside of the school. You know they're wringing their hands over this.

Well I think the teacher is to blame . . . who in there flipped up right mind would have a student pee in a bottle in class?

Jeez the whole flipped up thing is stupid. To me it starts with stupid policies like my kids have, no lockers. Their backpacks must weight 30 lbs!!

I hate this ship!!

1) Fire the mentally challenged teacher!

2) Figure out who's vandalizing the gol dern bathrooms.

3) Punish them.

What if they had to go #2? What about a girl on her period? Seriosly, I assume this is a coed school. Give my kids their lockers back. Inspect them if you have to, but quit punishing everyone to protect yourself from bad apples. Fix the bad apples!

As to the original question. I hate to say it, but I would've doubted my kid first; way too bizarre. Then once I got past that, I would've flipped out!

that teacher would have been a sorry soul if he did that to one of my kid's
he sure would not have liked what I did with the bottle of pee that I would have walked in with........
if ya gotta go, ya gotta go...............
send them one at a time, how hard is that?
and yes it is a public co-ed school...........
as far as refusing.....most children are tought to listen to adults, especially authority figures such as teachers

Tell my child to pee in the bottle, then drop it on the teachers desk.

Seriously, I would find a criminal charge to file against the teacher, and file it.
Then I would file a lawsuit against the teacher and the district.
Might as well jump on the bandwagon, and get some publicity.
Do it all in the name of education, for the teacher, the students, the public, and to pay for my son's college tuition.

When I was a sub and had multiple kids ask to go to the RR I knew it would be quicker to just take all of them down and let the whole class have a break. so I walked them all down the hall and I had one student for boys and one student for girls be the RR monitor for me.
I had no problems I think teacher should do the same let the kids go don't make hold it but the teacher should walk down there with them.
there would be less vandalism in the RR.

The school adminstration made a stupid rule that put the teacher in a difficult position. Bad move.

The teacher might have been trying to put the spotlight on the stupid rule, but used a VERY stupid way of doing it.

There were/are several uncontroversial ways to get the result the Admin sought, either with a different rule or with a different way of obeying it.

It is frightening to realize how little thinking was behind the whole thing.

I don't if this has anything to do with the circumstances..
but I have twin boy's age 14, very good in school and very well behaved,
they always make the honor roll and at times the principles list........
every teacher that I/they have had problems with in which I had to go to have a conference with (for whatever reason) does not have children of their own.....
I think that teachers with children have a completely different perspective on how to treat other kids, hopefully I'm wrong.........

ps. I also stayed on the princpiles list, just not the one for outstanding conduct........
