Hum public humiliation of vandals. The kids could be scared for life but the probability is thay think of it as a joke( like it would be in the moves American Pie or Porkys). The parence always think there little boy or girl
cant be the one to blame.
If it was my kids that got caught doing the vandalism I would kick there A$$ down to the school and make them clean up there mess before it escalated to what happend.
In my mind teachers are not payed to babysit you brat
but teach kids that want to learn

did you read the links ?
they don't know who has been doing the destruction......
so how was making children pee in a bottle humiliation towards the vandals ? and is public humiliation of a child okay in your book ?
and with that logic, the in question teacher is teaching kids that it's okay to pee where ever they want.......
and if teachers were not some what of "baby setters" half the kids would'nt even be in the school.......
they would just get up and leave when ever they wanted

#1 You dont realy think the teachers dont know who did it.
#2 These kids are not children thay have to be between 13-16 years old to be in grade 8.This makes them teenagers.
#3 Im shure if the kids didnt think it was funny to do this
thay would have not peed in the bottle in front of the class and made it to brake time.
#4 If this story is realy about children being humilated in the public school system why was the news media alowed to run with the story and let every one in there community know .The one boys father should be raked over the coals for pointing out his kid if this story is about humilating kids.
#5 This story looks more like some one looking to find an angle to sue the school.
#6 For teachers babysitting kids in this age group is wrong. The kid should already know if an education is for them or not at this age.If that kid thinks school is a wast of his/her time should be sent home so the parents can deal with them not my tax dallors.
One last thing i have kids

#1 Irrelevant
#2 Age 13 to 16 are children
#3 of course not
#4 "if the story is about humiliation" well, it's not, it's about some wacko teacher.
#5 they won't have to look for angle - it's right there in your face
#6 LOL...the school nazi: "No high school for you!"

Re: What Would You Do ? (update)

Just too many questions and not enough facts from the news story. If the news story is absolutely true and in context, then crucify the teacher, principal, and school board for allowing this to happen.

However, I have been involved in incidents that found their way to the newspaper and when I read about them they sounded nothing like what really happened. With that said, one story, one angle, one reporters version does not give me enough info to chastise the teacher. I can see where the students would have been permitted to take the bottle behind a divider to pee - out of their classmates eyes - and a reporter would report it as "in front of the class." Not that that would make it right, but it would put a different picture in your mind - "okay, if you really have to go, take this bottle and go in it behind that divider at the back of the classroom. No one will see you."

If it went down like that, would you be as upset with the teacher, or just po'ed at the administration?

Again, I don't know how I feel because not enough facts in the story. . .

"According to Brown, the students involved in the bottle incident asked to use the bathroom at about the same time. The teacher called for someone to escort them, but nobody came.

Rather than leave the classroom unsupervised, the teacher's solution was to give the students a bottle."

That sure makes it sound a little different.

Still sounds like urinating in a classroom. Still expect better judgement than that from a teacher.

I agree.

However, I also think it sounds a little different than the first reports.
