Walmart opens new Hispanic store

I'm in Nashville this weekend and was watching the local news.It was showing a grand opening of a walmart here in Nashville that is specifically for the hispanic population.I guess everything is in spanish and the employees all speak spanish.
Is there anything the Walton family won't do to make more money?
I am now protesting walmart! money grubbing Bas@%$#@

falls under the heading of "Marketing 101 Know Your Customer"

Wanna here about something stupid the state of Texas does? Requires ESL (English as a Second Language") classes in its schools, but that's not what's stupid. What's stupid is, while telling the children how important it is to learn English, we require the schools to include Spanish translations of all printed materials sent home with the kids. Other words, "You must learn English. You can get along just fine without learning English."

I've commented on this in a few previous threads. As long as they show up in enough numbers & wave enough greenbacks, the greedy corporations will pander to any group that comes along. And we wonder why the immigrants don't assimilate into our culture - simple...they don't have to. Next thing you know, legislatures are passing ordinances requiring dual-language signs in public places, and the snowball grows from there. Unfortunately, in our capitalist system the money rules & I don't see any way of going back now (other than regulating back to a single language, but then that's too much government interference in our lives, right?).

As much as I hate to say it...it is hard to blame Wal-Mart for something OUR government has supported. It isn't Wal-Mart that brought everyone into this country and supported them...if you can't beat them, join them and make a profit.

The word "pander" has a bad connotation, but it's how American free enterprise works. When I was in college it was taught as "target marketing".

You can't support the American Way of Life and criticize corporations for pandering.

Okay, well, you can, but just be aware that you are maintaining contradictory beliefs. Fortunately, humans have an infinite capacity for cognitive dissonance.

Walmart is not a family owned business.

It is a huge publicly traded corporation and as such, they would be doing a great disservice to their investors, if they did not generate as much revenue as they legally can.

Whether one likes it or not, there appears to be nothing illegal about opening a store catering to Spanish speakers.

Apparently Walmart thinks Hispanic cash is as green as everybody's else's.

For all you Wally World haters out there, not to worry.

It will only be a few years now before it reaches "critical mass". The signs are already appearing. Same store sales are becoming difficult to maintain, there are just simply too many and way too close to each other and their corporate overhead is enormous. It don't look good for WMT.

i wont say much but i think its gone to far, its all wrong in the way its being done here, say if the french were to start comming over here things would be done alot differently too adapt but what he have is a invasion ok ill speak my mind these people should be sent back and made to stay there unless they have a valid pass and pay taxes and such and do that test to be a us person,
as a military person as i am the boarder to mexico should be held with force and the right to fire back to anyone shooting .
if anyone fired on me i would mount the firest 50 CAL gun and fire back with a military revenge that ever laid on there assess take no priseneres kill all till the ammo ran dry and then i have my sabor i am CAV 1st of the 194 cav ill use my blade tillthe end,, ok just a mock up but you get the jest fight till the end
