Question for you guys that have used Lapidum. I use the side closer to the river, and I cut sort of close to the rocks at the ramp, is it shallow there? I set my shallow alarm there 2 different times.

I believe that he posted a picture of it in the "Show your boat 2" thread in the general boating section. Believe it was on page 25.

Close- but not correct. A picture of "Winter Dream" is on page 1 of that thread.

I've added a lot of canvas to her in the past 3 1/2 years.

Somebody needs to throw out a date for a raftup.
How 'bout Saturday 7/18 at Sand Island? That should work for me.
Low tide prediction that day is around 2:50PM, which means it'll be rising in the late afternoon- when most people want to head home.

Rain date 7/19!

I knew I should have went back and double checked it! Sorry Arks! (BTW, can't wait to see your boat in person, looks great from the pics)

I think that weekend will work for us. How about everyone else? I hope we can make this happen!

OK great!
I'm going to create a new post about this raft up so that other iboaters can have the chance to attend. Hopefully we'll get a large turnout.

Good to hear from you again Stan. Yeah, it's great that this thread is still alive and kickin'.
Hope to see 'ya out there this season. I don't plan to travel very far, so my cruising area this year will be limited to the upper Bay.

To all: I think a Saturday "Upper Chesapeake Raftup" needs to be scheduled. I can't do it 6/13 but don't have any other commitments at this point. Who's in, and what date works?

That's O.k. I surely understand stayin' close to home. Anyway, as I said, we're going to be down there the entire week preceding the Fourth and including the weekends before and after, so basically from 6/28 to 7/5.
Then my big 40th birthday bash is on 7/11. Other than that we are open as far as I know. I would love to meet up with some of the people in person who I've met on this forum over the last couple of years and have a big raftup, so let's figure out a date and go for it.

I plan on doing some crabbin' down on the Wye out of Wye Landing this year as well and hope it's as good as it was last year.

Dang it Arks! Takin pops out for crabs for early father's day dinner on Saturday!

Looks like the S/SE wind has driven a ton of water up in the bay, even at low tide the water is high today.

Here's a pic of a guy from another board, he lives in middle river and this was at 6:45 am, 3 hours past HIGH tide.

We should all be extra careful this weekend I'm guessing.

You should take him to a restaurant you can get to by boat! Some others here will have some good recomendations on where to go for good crabs! We have only done it a few times but it is a lot of fun!

Oh I know where to get good crabs, having grown up here. I think plans have changed anyway, we are taking him to a newer, local place called the Lodge, his day, his choice!

Sounds good. Let us know what you think of the new place.

My wife and I have actually been there already, unfortunately, it's not on the water.

I am going to go out for a few hours tomorrow, the marine forecast was looking good last time I checked. :D

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

I am REALLY enjoying boating on Fridays, it was like glass, and not much traffic again today!

I am very thankful for the awesome days I have gotten so far this year.

Oh yeah, I took the long way up to the Northeast river, but got brave and took the "shortcut" back. I used my chartplotter and charts and did fine. My shallow water alarm went off once. :D

Glad that you had a great time. Wish I could get out this weekend! Good job make it back to HDG via the "shortcut". You learn more every time you are out. Even though your alarm went off, you probably weren't in danger of scraping. I would bet it is set at 5 feet and you probably draft around 18" - 24" while on plane if that.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks. Nothing like the fresh air on the water, it makes my lungs feel GOOD. Now I understand why i/o boat engines don't need air filters. :D

I actually set my shallow alarm at 3', and set my offset at 18" IIRC. It's a Humminbird 610, cheap($85), but I needed one until I got my DSM25 for my Raymarine A65. Which I'm sitting here looking at, hopefully I can squeeze in installing that tomorrow. Then I will have depth sounding redundancy.
