Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Were was everyone? Me and supernova were out friday and saturday and no one was around. Had to cut my trip short by a day due to engine problems

We spent the whole day with SuperNova today at Lloyd's! We spent all day with the parade, went home and took care of the dog, and came back for the fireworks yesterday.

BTW, that Stan guy is pretty nice, no matter what you all say. :p

Hey Lime - Sorry that I missed you guys!!!! I tried hailing you and supernova both several times on Saturday buy you must have already pulled anchor and been out of range. I wanted to find you Friday night but there were to many boats so I gave that idea up. (I launch from North East Isles, right beside where you guys were anchored.) Then we were out early Saturday morning water-sking before the water got to choppy. We headed back in around 9 am but i didn't want to wake you guys up to early ;) When we headed back out around 12:30 i couldn't get ahold of either you or supernova. :( I really wanted to meet both of you.

Sorry to hear that you had to cut your weekend short due to engine problems though! John3931 would be able to relate a little bit. He came over to HdG for the fireworks but ended up overheating and not being able to restart the engine. Since he was anchored safely, we both watched the fireworks and then I towed him back to the cottage on my way back to North East. All in all, it didn't go to bad, just some annoying boat wakes to deal with! we all got back safe and sound and thats what counts! He sent my a text saying the boats all fixed and ready for the rest of thier vacation, just a couple of loose belts. Scott - I now offically pass all towing duties for John off to you for the rest of the week! :p

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

so why do you guys think the water is so clear?
It is really clear now. we could see down 5 feet the other day.
You think it is just because it has not rained in so long?

or maybe the grass clears it up?

That's not me and that's not a beer in what is clearly not my hand. I wasn't even there, besides it wasn't my fault.. and anything else he tells you is unproven conjecture...

The water is warming up nice. I was swimming in cabin john creek this past friday. Just gotta get passed the shock when it gets up to the waist area!!!

Ran the boat from stemmers run up to the Nauti Goose for a bite to eat and a few drinks with friends on Saturday. It actually turned out to be a decent day out there!!!

Should be even better this weekend!!!!

We went out of Stemmers Run on Saturday as well nice day. A lot of sea weed though at the ramp.It got a little choppy coming back.

I would think because the susquhanna is hardly moving, you guys get the brunt of our runoff, its clear up here too. I can see my feet standing in 4 ft of water,,,,,,or its because people arnt flushing there toilets as much to conserve water:eek:

Maybe we oughta stick to frisbee.....lmao....
Scott, seriously, it was great to meet you and your wife finally. I love the shots of the truck and boat from the parade...now I can see exactly what you were talking about...looks awesome, no wonder people were going nuts over it....great job! Poor Andy said his shoulder still hurts from throwning that thing.....of course he's had three surguries on that shoulder to try to tighten the joint up and keep it from constantly dislocating....so it was pretty ballsy of him to even attempt to throw it that far. Well, we had a blast and look forward to rafting up with you again....hopefully soon and with Lime4x4 as well. Good news is he is working on his boat and we will be up at Beltzville Lake on sunday....if all goes as planned.

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

I've been absent for the past few weeks, but things are finally winding down at work so I plan to get out on the boat this Sunday. I was seriously bummed about not making it down over the holiday weekend.
Depending on conditions I could be anywhere above the Sassafras.

Finally met John today! Yet another nice guy from Iboats, what the hell is wrong with you guys!

Stacey and I got caught in one rain shower, spent some time in the cuddy waiting it out, but a great day otherwise.

Funny thing, we were the ONLY rig at Lapidum today, what the hell? It was a little windy but come ON!

I just had my morning coffee come out my nose when I read that!....that was stupid to do in the first place, and down right retarded to post your stupidity on craigslist...lmao...by his pictures he procreated,,,,,,,,this country is doomed..LOL...:D

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Finally have internet so I can post my first adventures to the Upper Chesapeake. What a beautiful area. Can't wait to go back again. Just a quick run through of my week.
Put boat in Charlestown then down to cottage. Was then insulted by Stan in a text message.:p Watched North East fireworks from back yard. They were great. Bowman must have been anchored right near me.
Sunday did a little tubing and exploring the area over to HDG. Set out Sun. night to watch fireworks and boat overheated. Brandon towed me back. I owe him big time. Turned out to be loose belts.
Rest of week was mostly little runs, tubing, that type of stuff.
Finally met Scott on Friday. My wife thought he was a figment of my imagination. lol. Went out to eat at the River Shack in Charlestown. Good crabs and chicken.
Today was quite interesting. Woke up to rain. There was a little ramp next to cottage so I thought I would try to load boat there. My daughters went out to get the boat while I backed the trailer down the ramp. Boat kept on stalling. Don't know if it was wet or maybe out of fuel. Gauge read little under half tank. I ended up swimming the boat over and winching on the trailer. When it stops raining, I will find out what the problem is. But I am home safe and sound and looking forward to my next trip.
Forgot one important thing. It was hotter than the hinges of . . . !
One other thing. This trip would not have been possible without all you fine folks on here. It was nice meeting, chatting, texting everyone. Thank you again. You all are wonderful friends.
