Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Fairlee creek is a bit of a ride in a smaller boat. Make sure you have enough fuel. I am pretty sure (not positive) it is about 25-30 miles from turkey point. I just know I don't make the trip anymore since I got rid of my baja outlaw.

It's 16 miles from turkey point to Fairlee creek. I wouldn't do it with my kids in case the weather turned ugly. I quess I was thinking if you watched the weather and marine forcast and it was a nice day it would be a nice place to go.
Dad, whats the name and type of your boat? I'm going to be at Jellyfish Jolles this weekend. This is the one weekend a year I get to actually run the boat. I want to hit the Chesapeake Inn on Sat for lunch if the wether holds and J Jolles for the afternoon band(maybe reversed). And the Middle river on Sunday.

I was starting to think the same thing.. as fun as the cabana bar would be, it's a little far for our boat from the Bohemia. What about the nauti goose you guys talk about... ? Can I just go around Turkey Point and shoot up?

Your from elkton and have never been to the goose??? Yeah, like others said, around the point and just follow the markers until you run straight into it.

The food is better there this year too, the new owners are trying to spruce the place up. I know them personally....good people and got some money so I would expect the goose to keep improving!!

How far up the Sassafras do you go from the bay and what side is it on. Thanks

It's up past Betterton beach to starboard.

I've attached an image of it's location.

Thanks to Stan for showing me the way in!

I think tomorrow around noon I'll put the boat in at Stemmer's Run and head for Lloyds Creek. We have a 24 ft Pontoon boat with a green canopy.Just the two of us for now .

I should be there by 1-2 tomorrow, meeting up with a few other boats, one will be a 38' formula(shouldn't be hard to find). My boat is white with a black bimini.

Just remember at the entrance you want to stay hard to port, just about skim the fallen tree there. Plenty of water, 8 or 9 feet at low tide.

Bill,
Thanks for stopping by the dock @ Fairlee, it was great to meet you Saturday. We'll have to try and hook up one weekend when you have the kids with you. I'll load up my crew and head north to make the whole "Turkey Point" thing more manageable for you guys. And if you ever get to Still Pond, look for our usual raft-up and feel free to join in. They're a great bunch of boaters.

Yes I live in Elkton and no, I've never been to the Nautigoose. In my defense I just moved here from California 5 years ago and we just bought our first boat in April of this year... so we're just now finding everything "nautical". I really want to check out Lloyd's creek, Still Pond, and the Nautigoose. We were just out at Rolph's in Chestertown... what a great area to tube in with the kids. The river was nice and deep with plenty of room to manuver without all of the boat traffic to contend with. It was perfect out. Since the boat is at a marina on the Bohemia we rarely get out of the Bohemia.

Ate at the Nauti-Goose yesterday, my wife had their always good crab cake, and I had the cajun Mani-Mahi.
We split there goose cheese, their take on mozz sticks, very good.
We love it there!

Planning on going to Pier 6 in Baltimore August 1st weather permitting to see Heart. I think their was someone on this thread previously that went there often to see concerts and I wanted to find out more about launching from Canton regarding location and ease of launching there.

Thanks,
Eric

Its not bad launching but their is no bumpers on the dock so bring some protection. Parking is hit or miss. Seems like alot of people are now using it as an overflow parking lot now. I would also like to see Heart. I hope I will get down there for it. I have very much enjoyed the concerts so far.

when i take the boat down there, I launch from Hanover St.
Near harbor hospital.
nice free ramp. But there are a few shady people who hang out there, but it is Baltimore.
