Suppose you somehow managed to get the magneto/charger off of your lawn tractor hooked up so the trolling motor spun it, while trolling. That charging it's own battery.....

Re: Perpetual Motion

Well, at 10 amps in and 30 amps out it wouldn't last very long.

Ahh, a bigger pulley to spin it faster, and fool with the regulator part?

Perpetual motion does exist. I have in fact seen it first hand. My x-wifes's mouth would be the perfect scientific example.  :D :D

Re: Perpetual Motion

Resistance and friction are the perpetual killers of perpetual motion. However I did hear once about a guy that accomplished it with a machine that continued gaining RPMs until it grenaded and killed the inventor. The secret died with him. Or so the story goes.

Re: Perpetual Motion

Maybe not perpetual motion, but the 10 amps vs 30; did we get 30% more range?

Perpetual motion will happen at exactly the same moment pigs sprout wings and hell gets really really cold.

Re: Perpetual Motion

What you're missing Coors is that the mechanical load from the magneto exceeds the electrical output gained, so in fact the battery would drain faster . . . ;)
BTW, what was your pre "Imported" name . . . At first I said, who would "import" Coors? BTW, I have actually had some in England. Not the same stuff . . . Bleeeechhhhh :D

Perpetual motion may not exist in our time and place, but Perperual motion does exist in the universe.

Perpetual motion does exist!!

If you were to take a very long tube, fit a salt filter to one end and the sink that end into an ocean trench the resultant wieght differance between the salt water in the ocean and the fresh water in the tube would result in a head of water at the top of the tube.

I'm not sure what a slat filter or a head of water is but does it need to be in an ocean trench that's deep enough to be devoid of plant life? Or does the vast quantities of CO2 released by those plants not affect the experiment? :D

So assuming you're serious Reeshardah, where does the energy to "sink that end into an ocean trench" come from? You can't say "just let it go" as there is potential energy in you holding it up before you drop it. Right? It is like water in a water tower, it took energy to get it there (pump), but the energy used remains stored in the raised water a.k.a. potential energy . . .

Oh, and who here would say no to making love in a canoe?

I agree QC there is energy involved in putting the tube in the right place but once there it is only a matter of time before the energy produced by the tube will be greater than that invested. The head of water could be kinetic not potential. If the tube produced a head of water of say 5' the tube could be cut at 4 1/2', you would then have flowing water from the tube.

Have I sold it yet. Will you invest??

Re: Perpetual Motion

Why does the water flow initially? Pressure differential between filtered end and empty end. Is the flow necessary for a filter equal to that provided by the pressure diff? Especially after the head difference is only salt to fresh?

How big a diameter and how long a pipe for 1 bhp in flow? That's the first question maybe.

If it works, and you invented, why didn't you PM me? :D
