Will the activists that rallied to get Imus fired now rally with the same zeal to get the racist and abusive language out of rap music?

I think not. I think this was a "get even" event.

BTW, I could give a rats butt about Don Imus.

Me too. The double standard is blinding. It doesn't excuse Imus's comment. It should impune that double standard. Yet all I see is denial after denial of the double standard that most everybody else recognizes as obvious and undeniable.

I think it's an over reaction of unparalled magnitude. Or not. I recall Howard Cosell being fired over an accidental and brief unfortunate comment.

I also see Al Sharpton as a Racist to an extreme degree making racially derogatory and/or divisive statements over and over again with no impunity whatsoever.

It's their job to report the news, Pointer, not make it. I wish they'd adhere to that more often. But I'm sure they see the racially charged atmosphere and prefer to ride this story rather than be taken down with it.

Their "reporting" of the news created this situation. This is an example of how one reports affects the outcome. This story did not deserve wall to wall, hour to hour coverage. But this is what it got. Imus, heck I could really care less. Bored me and he was so insulting, I can't believe he got to the position he was. Some people like that, though.

Re: Don Imus got fired.

I still wonder, where's a TV show called America's Caucasian Forum, or America's Native American Forum, etc. Each and every one would be accused of being racially based. But America's BLACK Forum? A black guilty of racism? How DARE a non-black make such an accusation!

Rant over. Nice weather has broken out and I need some fresh air. :)

Re: Don Imus got fired.

Imus was a Shock Jock in NY, way back when Howard Stern was just a Nobody Shock Jock in Detriot.........

I used to listen to each of them when I was Trucking thru the cities they were working in,.....

The part of this equation that I can't for the life of me understand is;..........
If you tune in Shock Jock radio(aka. Tequila),....
And you Hear Lawrence Welk(aka. Milk),.....

Wouldn't you be Upset,+ Disappointed,..??..??..??......

I mean Don Imus,+ Howard Stern are Known commodities....
I wouldn't Expect anything Less that Shock Jock radio from them.........

CBS could care less what Imus said, but when they seen the ol mighty dollar leaving they knew they had to do something.
Besides, Imus don't need the money anyway, he done has a barrell full.

Re: Don Imus got fired.

I agree with most that was said here. I was surprised to hear Sharpton this morning on CBS say that he was tired of the music industry and the disparaging comments they have towards blacks and women and he is going after them next. We will see ...

That's a pretty funny poster. I'm gonna have to send that to some republican buds of mine. I know the kids wont get it but the old timers will laugh.
