I have an issue with my 94 with very low hrs.( I have had it 4 yrs, with reg. Maint) smoking very bad at start up, even after warm up i get more smoke than usual on restart.
I have been told that the diaphram may be bad( it is 14 years old) causing oil to seep after shut off.
It tapers off after running but, the oil seepage theory seems logical because of the heavy smoke at restart when warm.
May I ask a few?
1)Is this diaphram in the oil pump or the VRO?
2) Is this rebuildable or replacement of whole thing?
3)Is the oil pump, the unit mounted behind the oil tank, on the transom?
4) what are thoughts on going premix?
5) In these environmentally sensative days it gets embarrasing, will synthetic oil smoke less?
Thanks
