I have a evinrude 25hr.,1974 outboard. I'am haveing trouble with when iv'e run it about 10 to 15 min out on the water it wants to bog down and won't idle and sounds like it only runing on one cyl.Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks,Theo

Could be several things. First, check to see if you have plenty of cooling flow. If the engine starts to overheat, it'll slow down. Very important.

It could, indeed be dropping one cylinder due to poor spark. In that case, you'll have to diagnose the reason.

Could be the tank vent...is it open?

Finally, when you write the subject line for a question, it's very helpful to indicate the nature of your problem in the title of the thread. "Theo" doesn't tell us much, and lots of people who might help will just skip over your post.

Cats right i almost skipped it. sounds like it's either running hot, or a coil is getting warm and failing. also could be block tank vent. my vote is bad coil. next outing check the spark on both plugs, when it starts acting up.

ted don't hit the Quote, either hit the far right paper with the quill, or the blue post reply. it will get better we were new once.
