I need a little help, my 50 hp merc has a sn 335072, can someone tell me the year of mfg. also the part number for a water pump kit. And best recommendation for a repair manual.

You might want to check that number. Most have 7 numbers. Depending on what number you left out, your's could be a 1972.

it appears they don't offer it as a kit...you need to buy the individual parts you need :cool:

I bought a complete kit from my Merc dealer for a 60. Was about 66.00 and had new impeller,gaskets,upper and lower pump body, O-rings and rubber washers. Didn't have a key for the impeller so don't loose that.

Could be wrong but I don't think the last two numbers are the year. I believe that's just a coincidence.

According to wiser people on this board you want to get the Merc manual rather than Seloc or Clymers. I think the Merc manual runs from about 1966 through abou 1974 or there abouts.

If you search for a while you can find one on ebay for a decent price. There are a number of them on CD. It's hard to tell if those are copies of Clymer, Seloc or Mercury though.
