Fueling Question

07 Chaparral Sunesta 214 - 1st boat, went to the gas station to fill it up (was empty) and the gas kept blowing back out of the nozzle port. Had to hold the nozzle on the low setting and stop every few seconds. After it was 1/3 full I was able to go full blast. Is this normal on an empty tank? I was thinking the vent system could not keep up since the tank was empty OR do I have a vent problem on the tank?

They are a little picky when totally empty.

Re: Fueling Question

Check your fuel vent, Mine was clogged up from old was and spiderwebs. The first time I fueled up I got covered in gas

Re: Fueling Question

Thanks for the post. Same thing happened to me first time I fueled (wasn't empty). (at the risk of sounding dumb)...where is the fuel vent?

I have no idea where the vent is, I am sure someone here knows!

Re: Fueling Question

It should be close to the filler cap. It should stick outside of the hull by a half inch or so and be well above the water line.
