I'm getting a poor spark on the number one cylinder of my 1991 70hp Force. Looking at the High Tension lead, the metal connector inside is corroded.

Is it possible to change just the lead (or replace the cap/connector) or do I have to fork out for a new coil? It appears as though the lead is permanently attached to the coil.

(Its Thunderbolt ignition btw)

Re: Ignition Coils

You can replace just the boot and connector. The connector has, for lack of a better term, a spike that just pokes through the lead.

Where can I get new caps and connectors, mine are all corroded and loose too. Can I use automotive type replacements? HC

Re: Ignition Coils

That should work, just make sure it comes with the connector as shown in Sierra 18-5750.
