to remove the trim you need to remove both upper and lower pins they are held in place with a pin that looks like a nail

elad, you really need to get yourself a Mercury shop manual. They are about $75 US, but that's less than an hour of labor at a shop. I don't have my manual in front of me, but having read through it, it seems to me you do indeed need to remove the unit from the motor bracket. The only way to know for sure though is to have the manual in front of you. Not sure about the motor. Trying to picture mine in my mind, but it seems to me it is pretty out in the open once you have the motor tilted up. MercFan has one of the older trim systems where the motor/pump assembly is a separate unit; easier to work on than the kind that are integrated into the motor bracket. Good luck!

That's correct croSSed and Toon, I was able to get it fixed. You wouldn't have known it unless you read up to post #38. Thanks for your input anyway.

Also, MercFan... You're correct. That unit isn't submerged. But, it's close enough that I think I'm gonna know if I didn't get those seals seated properly. Thanks again.
