someplace I recall reading a tech bulliten from merc about NOT freshwater cooling the inline manifolds,3.7 notwithstanding, due to cracking at the rear of the manifold.
its been tried by a few on this board and I dont think it was successfull and I dont think your pre-alpha seawater pump can flow enough to properly cool the heat exchanger if your cooling the manifold too.

Yes Rodbolt they did have an issue with it and I found out on here by Don who put a post on about the reverse flow on that sysyem eliminates that problem. And iv'e read on several occasions that the outdrive water supply "if working properly and maintained" will have a sufficient water flow.;)
