As kwikk9, get you some mints, gum or other substitutes. Even tooth picks, that you can put in your shirt pocket and grab for. I quit one time a few years back, unfortunately started back, but I didn't use any of those remedies either. Back when I was working at my last job I didn't smoke near as much as I use to, I used peppermints, and I smoked cigars only. Best of luck, if you find any other remedy that works better let me know, maybe I'll join the wrest of yawl that have successfully quit.

Just something to think about... with the money you'll save each year, you can go on a nice cruise... in your boat, or one of the bigger ones...

At a pack a day I was spending a little over $1000/yr on my habit, and that was before the last time prices rose... now it would be something like $1200-1300... that's motivation enough. :)

good luck to you. i hope it works out for you. I quit last June 23rd with the help of chantix and my mother also quiting.

the first 2 weeks were the worst but, then it became easier by the day. I would just think of how i wanted to breathe fresh air again and taste food again.

now the thought of smoking or the smell of stale cigarette smoke makes me sick to my stomach. i smell better and my clothes smell better and my house, truck.

there's so many ups to quiting, I promise. again, good luck!

I quit 2 weeks ago and as they do say it really does get easier. I realized this morning that I made it through the whole day yesterday and didnt even think about a cigarette once! Thats the first time since I quit! Congrats to you and keep your chin up you'll be fine!

Thanks for all the support!!!!!

Still clean and green. I keep mints(tic tac) in my former smoke pocket but I use them more for BREATH RELIEF.Nasty in the morning.

The cravings are farther apart every day now.I already feel like I've got it beat.

ENJOY THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!

I hear ya Sgt, if I don't start hearing back from these jobs that I applied for soon I won't have a choice but to quit. I must be unemployable from the way it looks :D:D. Heck if I wasn't smoking, I could nearly have all my project boats finished with the money I would save. I pay $2.30 a pack, if not less.

Just accept any job, gas station attendant, whatever, doesn't matter. As soon as you start a new job, that's when all the other employers you really wanted to work for, call you about the resume' you sent them. It never fails. :D

Don't get discouraged in your job hunt, last time I went looking, it took me a whole month before the calls started comming in, which is the longest I've ever been unemployed for. But they will come eventually.

Well ---- It has been one month and the physical stuff is almost gone.

The mental is still around when I am not busy. Breath mints help me through.About 50 Tic-Tac sized ones a week.Wife says I smell better.

Thanks for the support!!!!!

Watch out for spring. For some reason that is always a tough time. Also thank Tim Pelenty. Because of his tax on smokes it cost a fortune to smoke. I can tell you this if you grab a cigarette and smoke it it will taste foul and you will ask yourself why did you ever like these things in the first place. Then an hour later you will ask yourself the same question then after 19 or so they will start tasting good again. With all the money you are saving you can take up Ice fishing and buy some really cool toys. I have a portable, LX5, power auger and a bunch of other stuff that I could not afford to buy before. Plus the big bonus is my second trip to Lake of the Woods is next weekend. I commend you for going cold turkey. I could not do it. Zyban or wellbutrin was the thing that finally worked for me. If you are not too far from the cities maybe we can hook up and fish. Good luck and hang in there.
