What module are you talking about?
Now, if you are talking about the ECM, then NO. they are not interchangeable.
Even MEFI-2 ECM's will be different for different engines and outdrivers.

Possible, yes. Practical, not really. You would have two things going for you. First, the MEFI1 and MEFI2 ECM's have the same pinouts, so you would not need to do much modification of the wiring harness. Second, the sensors are all the same with the possible exception of the Knock Module and Sensor.

The hard part would be to get the MEFI 1 ECM relashed with the the right calibration. You would need the help of an expert to get a satisfactory result. It probably be a lot easier and inexpensive to just find the correct ECM in the first place.

There are a few places that do custom tuning of the MPI boats - they'll know the right answer to this, as they do some conversions and custom tuning of these things... Might search the internet or ask on speedwake for references to the guys that tune Merc EFI.

Newport Dave is right on. We can reflash your controller, or you can buy our MEFIburn software package and do it yourself. It just depends on how much you want to spend, and if you want to do any custom tuning to it. The lowest cost route would be to find a used controller for your exact engine at a low price, but MEFI 2's are very difficult to come by at any price. MEFI 1's are much more common. Do you have a MEFI 2 with a problem, and do you know what the problem is?

Bob (MEFIBurn) is one of the experts that I mentioned. In fact he may be the most knowledgable guy in the country when it comes to MEFI controllers next to the engineers who designed them. He can help you with this conversion. He repaired a dead MEFI 1 ECM that I had and it has been working perfectly ever since. Give him a call. You can find his number at obd2allinone dot com.
