Lowrance networking problem?

Please help...I just had a lowrance LCX-112 and a LCX-27 installed today and for whatever reason the LCX-112 will not acquire a GPS position. They are installed on the NMEA2000 network. I swapped the two units and the LCX-27 acquires a position at either location. The 112 will not acquire a position at either location. I went to the satellite page and both units show the same satellites and strengths but for whatever reason the 112 will not lock on. Is this a simple menu setting issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Lowrance networking problem?

They are very finicky about having the network connected correctly with the 120 OHM at each end, and ALL the connected devices comming out of the branch of the TEE Vs the left or right side

The connecting cables should run through the TEE fittings and not use the TEE to make any turns

How did you power the network ?

There have also been many nema 2000 firmware updates that may not have been done on on e of your parts the units and reciever all get the updates

there is also a command for hard and soft resets on the lowrance website. this command is not listed in your printed manual.

Three things to check... power connections, power to the unit and version of firmware

Re: Lowrance networking problem?

I luckily figured it out. Somehow the "Require WAAS" was selected which will cause the unit to sit in la-la land if no WAAS satellite is available and will never acquire a signal. I unselected that command and viola it works perfectly! Thanks for your input and hopefully this saves someone else from the confusion/frustration I had. After fixing this I was, however, getting pretty high positional error readings. My puck was within one foot of my LCX-112 so I moved it to the back and I believe this fixed that problem. I can't wait to try out the new electronics on the lake...

Again, thanks for your suggestions.

Re: Lowrance networking problem?

Bruce,

I cannot post the PDF I downloaded from the Lowrance website it's too large for the forum (92 page pdf). If you send me a message, I will gladly email it to you.

OR,

go to Lowrance.com>support tab>self-service support link at the left sidebar>under find answers window type in "Lowrance Unit Resets" the PDF will be the "answer" link on the first listing

For unit-specific resets, on the website, type in your model under support search and it should be listed as an option.

We had an issue with GPS module not responding... very common in new install. In my research I stumbled on the reset command info. We have the LMS337c, I found the self-service support to be very informative. But like I said, the restart commands were not easily found.

I have the same unit and the same problem. I unplug my network...plug it back in and the problem is solved.
