Re: Spelling

Check out the hulltruth.com boat forums. They are nice enough to provide an embedded spell checker when you type out a thread or response :)

And since they don't sell anything like iboats does . . . one wonders how they can afford to provide such a nice little feature to their members :D

I've been using the free IE spell checker for years like the other poster suggested. Great program.

It does tend to hurt one's eyes when hitting spelling errors in some of our threads!

Re: Spelling

i have noticed the fastoftennospaces run on sentences with no punctuation or care for grammer its almost impossibleto read and no where to startandstop to get pointsacross and it justrambleson like that liek there was some gun to the head typingthat or they had a 30 second timelimit on the message and had to cram it all inall at once ya know its hard to understand that and italwaysseems to be some younger person no, not targeting, that doesthis.

Believe it or not, that was very hard to do for me!

Well I read it juzz fine boss, that wern't no hill ta climb fer a high stepper!:D
Aside from all that some of us fellers juzz don't spell as good as others but that don't mean we enjoy boat'n any less than those of you who can spell them thar big words. See it bugs me more to see some one that is totally clueless at the boat ramp trying to launch his/her boat than the name on it being misspelled. I think some times we let that thing called edumacation get in the way, and it causes a barrier between folks that could otherwise be great friends. Spelling don't mean much when you're out fish'n, sailing, driving or even mechanic'n. Now if ya was fish'n with a 9/16" wrench or changing oil with a Zebco 33 that would matter. I think this thread could discourage some folks from posting some ideas that we may all benefit from cause they're skeer'd the spell'n police will scold them. This is the most informative boat site on the web, and spell'n ain't got nutt'n to do with why it's the best.

Re: Spelling

I was a terrible speller when I was young. Later in life I got struck by lightning and things went down hill from there. I sit here with two dictionaries on the table. One that is a pocket size that is from my college days and one that IS IN LARGE PRINT for todays use. Lately I seem to be unsure of half of my sentences and I should question the other half.

No, I do not always read what I have just written, though I should.

I accept the castigation.

Re: Spelling

Myself, I don't care what anyone's "spelling" is like.
The "keyboard" is new to 80% of us...and blind people/old/handicapped...not as smart as the rest of us think..whatever ..do there best.
I have, and always will, have compassion, and respect, for those maybe a touch less "educated" than me..(I was forced too learn by being the youngest of 3..THEY CARED!)..on spelling.
Means "zip" too me. Its the thought, and what said that counts.

Be a little "gentle" here...some are less "fortunate"...but they still are just like the rest of us...
Dammit...give a touch "Respect" of those less "schooled"
For crying out loud, I have too look at it DAILY. My neighbor couple here has a severely "handicapped daughter".
Poor thing is only 14. Born with "major" problems. She can barely walk, always crunched over, her arm is always stuck to her month. Which is a constant drool. Cannot speak at all, just a "wail" at times..(they built a sound proof room for her)
The poor thing will never know "make-up". no "boyfriends". no "phone calls" .
Breaks my heart to see her, and really tears me up.
The sweetest kid. I see her and mom walking at least the mailbox, I let the doggy loose, to go say "hi".
She has one good half *** arm...she "snuggles" me...wails something, and hug's me.
Tears streaming now, for her, but the parents will NEVER put her "away".
She's damn special..to us all that live here...
God, its so sad...."nuff me.....be glad ya all got 4 good limbs, and can at least punch a keyboard...and talk...
Again, be "gentle"...please...

No..grew up Illinois...outside Chicago , in the burbs. Tore up the Chain of Lakes the 60's/70's/80's. Now west coast Pacific Northwest (south Puget Sound) 14 years. Have many friends all over FL though..Panama City, Tampa, Leesburg, Cocoa Beach, Clearwater, old girfriend FT.Meyers,
and points southern to KW...always welcome, as they are here.
All old HS crowd, and we stay in touch on a Yahoo group..
4 more years, SS kicks in (only 58, retired at 44) might just sell out and go there...love the PNW with the ocean, many Nat Parks, the mountains on the bikes..(8). ..but as getting older...and the winter gray/drizzle.will get to ya...(summers to die for)...who knows..always liked FLA, just have to get old and be an retired old fart there I guess...heard its the rule in a few places!:D

Re: Spelling

I thought we already had a built in spellchecker. I guess that explains why my speeling ( <-- on purpose) has been so attrocious ( <-- not on purpose).

Re: Spelling

I tried using the spell checker here long ago, and all it does is offer you "ieSpell" as a download for internet explorer? (the little ABC with a check mark over in the top right corner of the reply page) I already have a spell checker on my computer (for e-mail anyway), so I don't know how this is supposed to work here

I use IE7

Re: Spelling

The National spelling bee is this week! I think we should all enter. The last man standing gets to proofread all of our posts! Maybe even get a few gallons of gas for his/her boat.

Shocking!!

I don't care about the spelling as much as I do the font size!!! I love getting older! :D
