I have a 1995 Rinker Captiva 212 with a 4.3L Mercruiser. From the pictures on iboats, I believe it has a Quicksilver remote. The "down" trim works fine. However, the "trailer" button does not work. I was able to hear the solenoids click, so I determined that the problem was in the switch. I removed the "trailer" rubber boot assembly and a metal cap just flew out. I am able to raise the lower unit to the "trailer" position by placing the metal cap on metal nipple thingies on a circuit board in the throttle. I'm able to reinstall the cap into the boot, but I'm not able to get the circuit board into the boot because the board will not fit through the opening in the throttle.

How to I disassemble the throttle so that I can reassemble the trailer switch assembler?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello

There are screws on the back side of the controler that will allow it to open up. Normally you open it to replace cables.

You can open it up but be CARFULL as there is a LOT of "junk" in there.

If you screw something up in there you could get your self in more trouble then you are now. I dont remember seeing if there was any access to the trailer switch when my machanic opend up my controler when we changed out the shift cable. But I do know there are 4 screws on the back side that will allow it it to be opened......

Now that I think of it I think that was just the lower section.......There are problable screws on the back side of the shifter though.

Don't start taking anything apart yet, post a picture of your controller. Quicksilver does not list controllers by year.

Thank you. It looks a lot like the one shown on the top of following link:
http://www.iboats.com/Quicksilver_Remote_Controls/dm/*******.686654527--keywords.quicksilver--list_time.1212508375--**********.097330755--view_id.13926

I will try to take a picture of my actual control in a couple of days.

I talked to the boat dealer last evening and they said I need to first take the throttle handle off by moving it all the way forward and then pull off the round neutral button to get to a nut. It sounds like it might be a pain to remove the neutral button becuase the throttle needs to be perfectly aligned. They didn't say if I first need to depress the button or move the throttle forward as putting it in gear, without depressing the button.

Am I better off just paying them the mega bucks to have them do it? I hate to because it shouldn't be all that complicated. But, I don't want to mess up the control.

Re: Power Trim (Quicksilver)

Attached are photos of my Quicksilver control. It is a Quicksilver 3000 Classic. Sorry for the delay, with all the rain and flooding it's been difficult to get into the boat.

Thank you.
