But like wow, GE 2 man, you changed your post . . . It originally said something like "this is dead". Anyway, I still think it is prudent to call your Senators and Congressman. Not done, needs to clear both Houses and get signed by the President.

Yeah, maybe we could make out on the 100,000 used Piles 'O Crap that will be a dime a dozen if it passes . . . I wouldn't expect that it would have a negative affect on used values either

I have already sent letters to our politicians in Georgia 6 months ago.

Re: $800.00 permit. All Boats!! Every Year!!!

Gee, I rescued a guy in a $40,000 boat just a couple of nights ago in my 35+ year old trihull, which is powered by a 1972 Johnson 65hp motor. He didn't ask me if I could afford $800 bucks a year to register it (I can), nor did he ask me how long it took me to launch. Frankly, he was too busy coating himself in the bug spray that I handed him "first thing" when I found him at 5am. He also didn't care what type boat I had, when I went off looking for his buddy in the great big "ole" shrimp boat, to tow him off of the marsh that he had run into at 8pm the night before.

This bill is ridiculous and I predict that the other one to do away with it will prevail.

To me it seems that the 40k boat owners are the ones who take time at the ramps. They pull up like they own the place and do not get ready before backing down, rather back down get out and yell at their wifes to grab the ropes while she is chasing down spoiled brats! Me and my trihull always seem to be the one waiting to launch....

could i pay $800 a year, yes. would i want to, NO

I launch my boat in April and haul out in October so that I don't take up any bodies precious time at the ramp. As for the $800 fee? What do you expect for a bunch of lawyers and attorneys that are always money hungry? Just like little brats that can't get their way, they will re-word their questions so that mommy and daddy will say yes. NO, I am not for it at all.

If anything, customs should be on these freighters coming in and dumping unwanted dangerous species in our fresh waters. Just fly in from another country with fruits or meat and they will stop you and take the items. However, thousands of gallons of ballast water gets dumped freely that can endanger our native aquatic species. It has happened and still continues. This is where things should be taken seriously.............SS

So, This doesn't affect jetski's right  I don't have a poop shoot on my jetski anyway :p We should be exempt right?,,,No?,,, $800 a year to ride my wet bike is insane! I might as well sell my boat as the bride prefers the jetski anyway, now that she knows how to drive it :( It's a pretty sad state of affairs in this country for them to be even considering this! I know that quite awhile ago, I filled out an online petition against this. Why don't they just go after the main offenders, the foreign vessels, instead of punishing every boater

If we are going to have a “dress code” for boats, I think it is only fair we also have one for their owners! :D

Maybe we should require for men, little navel hats, blue blazers with nautical patches & matching slacks, white or pink Polo shirts, and white socks & boat shoes. Hair cuts should be over the ears and not touching the collar.

For women ...

Maybe we should also have a list of acceptable brands.

Re: $800.00 permit. All Boats!! Every Year!!!

I may be going out on a limb here, but on this message board, most people are do-it-yourself types.. I'd guess that there are more people on here with older, lesser expensive, boats, than brand new expensive boats. People on this board are mostly on here because they have a passion for boating and are not the types that only have a boat for show and take it out 3 times a year.

That being said, everyone has a right to use boat ramps. If you don't like the poor people in ugly boats clogging up the ramp, and you'd pay $800 a year to get rid of them, then why don't you just go to a private ramp and pay $10 to launch?

I already pay a yearly fee to register my boat, trailer, tow vehicle, and taxes on the gas I put in it. If I want to fish, I pay for a fishing permit. There is absolutely no need to raise my prices of boating.

The poor person with the lawn chair seats is probably one of the first people to help out a snobby boater when their precious boat breaks down.

Yes, indeed. Below is a photo of me, all set for a day of bass fishing. Yes, Cutter and Buck is the appropriate attire for we boaters, to be sure. It's the only clothing I wear, of course.:

No! No! No! CATransplant. Much to casual!

We must keep the "Rif Raf" off our nations waters. What is happening to our America? Something must be done!

Something more along these lines should be the absolute minimum allowed!

Dark Blue attire for day events, Pink stripes for evening.

Cheerio Boys!

Well, I see your point, Snapping Turtle, but I wonder if the laundry maid will be able to get stinkbait stains out of those white trousers. However, I completely agree about the pink stripes for evening affairs. Perhaps I shall simply have to give up fishing altogether and settle for cocktails on the afterdeck in the afternoon. Certainly that would save fuel, and we're all trying to decrease our carbon footprint.

I really cant see this passing anytime soon. As many have stated the cost of the fee will outweigh the cost of owning the boat. I could never afford this and I know Im not the only one. Not to mention how little sense it would make to take away a sport that brings in so much revenue to the local economy. I call hype.

As far as launch hogs go, I dont think one group is any more to blame than another. Huck Finn has held up the ramp just as much as Richie Rich. I've been pissed at both of em at one point or another. As long as I can put in quick and make them look bad it all good.

The legislation is to EXEMPT recreational boats from this permit. Not to apply it. The permits are in place and the court said it has to apply to all boats/ships not just commercial shipping.

What he says^^^^^^ This is a big deal! Seems impossible to me as well, but if one of the two versions does not get passed and signed by the President, it's $800 a year per boat

This is not about money, this is about the "Haves" denying the "Have-nots" access to what they consider to be their space.
