Had a serious overheating problem, melted the wires from the power pack. repaired the wiring, Pulled a plug and checked for spark, had a spark, engine will not start, Backfires once in a while when cranking. compression check shows 50 on each cyl. Whats a good reading supposed to be?

If those readings are accurate, you have serious problems. You might want to verify it by using a different gauge. Over heating could have very well ruined the cylinders.

Comp should be 140-150# Tilt it up and put Marvel Mystery oil in both cylinders let it set for a week(keep checking and keep it full). This might free up the rings. You probably roached the motor and need to rebuild.Jerry
