I just ordered a Carburetor Rebuilt kit for my 1987 Bayliner Capri the engine is a Ford 2.3 Liter 4 cylinder with the omc cobra out drive. My question is. Does Carburetor Rebuilt kit come with a new accelerator pump? I ordered the kit from napa. Here is the link

The problem i am having is when i put it in gear and give it gas it will run but when i put it back in neutral the engine will stall and die. Any suggestions? Thanks

the accelerator pump works when throttling up not down. If it is dieing when you put it back in neutral it is probably the carb, but not the accelerator pump. The kit you are showing comes with a pump as pictured.

Re: Carburetor Rebuilt kit

ok, so i just rebuilt my carburetor. It took me like 3 hours. I put it back on the boat, it was running for a little bit but it died out. I don't know how to adjust the 2 needles it has at the bottom. any suggestions? Btw, the carb is a 2 barrel Rochester. thanks

Here is a picture of the carb.

Re: Carburetor Rebuilt kit

Float settings and linkage settings. All the settings and measurements to check and adjust should have been in the kit instructions.

Uh....how did you check the float settings?

Also....you said the rebuild took 3 hours...did you soak the carb overnight in carb cleaner or laquer thinner and blow the passages out with compressed air?
If not, you didn't rebuild the carb, just tore it apart and put new gaskets on it.

Re: Carburetor Rebuilt kit

Start with the idle mixture screws 2 1/2 turns out if i remember correct.
The float level should have been adjusted per the specs on the sheet that came with the kit.

Re: Carburetor Rebuilt kit

First of all ,i didn't get instructions with the carb kit. I soaked all the parts in 1 gallon of carburetor cleaner for about 30 minutes and them rinsed them off with water and dried them, Then i used the air gun. What is the ruler used for? i think i have to adjust something inside my carb. The boat will run only if i give it throttle constantly. It will not turn on when i turn the key. any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Carburetor Rebuilt kit

Clogged passages, or too rich.
It needs overnight soak, and about 70 psi compressor.
