As a newbie, purchased a Seloc manual for my outboard. Found it to be less than ideal.

Are the Clymer's any better or should i keep looking for a factory issued manual ?

Thanks !

Re: Out Board Manuals

Clymers are used to catch the oil drips, when changing the lower unit fluid, the Seloc is used to put on the ground, to keep your knees clean during the process. get an OEM factory service manual. what motor do you have?

Re: Out Board Manuals

I just knew you guys were gonna say that. My motor is a 1989 Suzuki DT 140.
The Oil injection has been bypassed, as they all seem to be. Any idea where I can i get a good book ?

Thanks !

Re: Out Board Manuals

Well I have used both the Clymers and Seloc for Mercs.

Clymers by far is better than the Seloc. Was very disappointed with the presentation, content and organization of the Seloc manuals.

Never had a factory manual so can't compare.

Just my 2 cents.

most factory manuals are for that motor, itself. not 15 models.

I called Crestec. The manual is out of stock and they want me to pay for it before they'll print one up.They also want 79.00 for it !
I got a genuine Yamaha manual at Ebay for about half that.:)

... you said nothing about price and barked at one of the senior officers of this forum like they are nowhere to be found. factory manuals new are never cheap. good to hear you got a deal.
