After years of looking and procrastination I finally bought a boat, a 2002 190 Sea Pro CC with a 115 four-stroke Merc. I had been looking at boats that were much more $$ and when I found this one I had to buy it. I had never heard of the brand before and did my research here on iboats. After reading many posts I was confident this would be a good boat. The plant closer has me a bit nervous about resale value. Fortunatly I have some room, I paid $3000 less than NADA suggested.

After two days of intense cleaning I know the boat much better now. The front anchor bin drain was clogged with gravel and funk. After much fuss I finally got it somewhat clean. Any suggestion on how to service the drain? I almost think it has a screen or something is that true?

There are some rust stains inside the plastic live wells, any suggestions on how to clean 'em up would be greatly appreciated.

Also I noticed several spider cracks near the bin lids and corners, people tell me that's normal and nothing to worry about. Are they right?

I was sad that the boat was too tall to fit in my garage, I bought a cover but it fits poorly. Any suggestion on how best to store this boat outside. I'm a crazy neat freak and need her in constant showroom shape.

I'm taking her out Sunday I'll have pics and a first impressions to share.

Thanks,

Re: New Sea-Pro CC owner with questions

As far as I know there is no screen on the drain. On mine it is connected separately to a drain hole on the transom. Sometimes during construction they leave little bits of fiberglass and adhesive behind that end up in these drains.

I use a product called Never Dull for upkeep on my Sea Pro. It is great for just about any surface and stain. On deeper rust stains I use a little Muratic acid... it doesn?t hurt the fiberglass or plastic if rinsed off shortly after application.

Spider cracks are a normal occurrence especially on boats kept outdoors in the heat and sun. They should not hurt anything except aesthetics.

Hope this helps...

Re: New Sea-Pro CC owner with questions

Thanks for the reply and info.

First trip today. Went 9 miles north out of Port Sheldon and then 9 miles south to Holland and into lake Macatawa. Wave were around 2-3 on the way out and settled to about 2 footers on the way home. The boat ran well and all seemed to go smooth.

A lot of water drained out when I got home, we had several large waves come in the back, I'm thinking the water got in that way.

I wish I could get it up on plane quicker. I know the kids will want me to pull them around on the tube soon. Has anyone put a fin or trim tabs on a Sea Pro 18 CC?

Thanks,

Re: New Sea-Pro CC owner with questions

i have a 98 190CC and really like it. it has a 150 Yammer 2stroke that has no problem coming out of the water. I had a fin on a bowrider i used to have and i could not tell it made any difference. I could be wrong.

We keep ours outside and i have a double cover deal. I have a center console cover (that is vented) that i wrap bungee cords around the bottom. Then i have a full coverage cover that i attached to lines to the trailer. When stored, i take out the drain plug and prop open all the storage spaces so they can get some air.

Monitor the water you are taking on as a day of boating goes on. Make sure your bilge is directly wired to your battery. I know someone that was taking on water from the livewell grate on the hull.

May all your water be wet

Re: New Sea-Pro CC owner with questions

SkippingTrout,
Congradulations on your Sea Pro. I have a 2004 190. I agree that it is a great boat for the money. It is a good compromise of a compact size and able to handle rough seas well. I have never been splashed or sprayed in 3 yrs of ownership with 30 days of saltwater fishing mixed in.
I have some spider cracks too around the front live well. I don't think it's a big deal. Once they form, the don't get any worse.
I have a 115 4stroke Yamaha. It is a little sluggish to get going especially with a heavy load. Two full livewells in the rear are the biggest factor. I installed two large trolling motor batteries in the back so that also makes it worse. The boat is now a little tail heavy, so I installed a set of Smart Tabs and that made a big difference. I recomend them. There is alot of chatter about these on this site.
I'm also big on keeping it super clean. I have to because it's also a family cruising boat. I like Bar Keepers Friend for all rust and other stubborn stains. It has Muratic acid in it.
Let's see some pictures! Mine is in the Sea Pro picture thread.
