Sure could use some cheeze with my "WHINE!" My time is coming soon. I think I'm gonna have to fain arthritis and dizzy spells. Do you think that will work for a while or will "she" make me go to the doctor to disprove it? Hmmm, I wonder!
Mine works for 3 doctors, she would insist. But then I rarely listen. :p

Well I'm back! Found some new help, "and a little money," and am gonna hit it again. Maybe this Tuesday or Wednesday. This "yard ornament" is either going to motor on out to sea or it's going to belong to someone else! Too close to give up and "gonna keep on keeping on." Ron

Lets go fishing! The newer boat is doing really well...lots of fish coming over the gunnels. I have a few posts in the saltwater fishing topics...

Good to see you back. PM me with your new email. Your old one is coming back to me as undeliverable.

Good luck! You had a lot of interest in your build. So many folks are looking to do what you are doing, and they get motivated by these posts...

Re: 1982 GW, 24' Project (UPDATED W/PICS)

Well I braved the heat and humidity today and got out there and pulled the boat cover off after a year of being covered. Wasn't too badly mildewed so I washed everything up and last year's paint job still look great. Tomorrow I'm going to gas it up, put some lube in the foot, change engine oil and start it up. Have someone coming over to install the two gas tanks, do some rewiring on new guages and switch panel, little bit of fiber-glassing inside the cuddy and a list of other things I have been procrastinating on doing. While he's doing all that I'm to to replace the whole brake system and tires. Was wondering if 6000 lb brake parts, on front axle and hubs on rear, and a 6600 pound inertia actuator is enough? Each of the axles are rated at 3500 pounds and I have "NO" idea what my boat weighs. Does anyone know what my 24' Grady might weigh?

Re: 1982 GW, 24' Project (UPDATED W/PICS)

Well it seems like I just keep on "shooting myself in the foot!" I was going to let the foot down to service the lube and it didn't move. Checked the fluid level and it was foaming so I thought "mabe it's got air in the lines." Went back to the left outboard hydraulic cylinder and then it happened! Putting the line fitting back into the cylinder "the cylinder $&%@ threads stripped!" How do I get this repaired? It's a flared fitting for the line so I guess I'll have to find a SS repair fitting to go into the aluminum cylinder. Anyone have any experience with this problem with any advice? Thanks

Hi Kid
Had exactly the same problem.
I refitted an adapter to the piston and it looked and worked tight
until it was all the way down.
It then broke again and made another mess.
The end fix was get another trim cylynder.

Progress is being made. Moved the boat from the side of the house over to the driveway. Fitted tanks in well to see how they fit on the new support runners, pulled them back out and painted them. Cut out the instrument panel and going to make new guage mounting board. Looks like all the fuel lines are coming out due to their age, 1982, and fit with new. All of this in 98 degree and 90% humidity weather.

Who can tell me the best way to remove "very" rusted lug nuts from the hubs? I had to pull the rear hub off the spindle to see what was going on with the trailer rebuild. I would like to salvage the galvanized rims if possible. For the past week I have been squirting "Kroil" on them but not seems to be working.

Hey, Ron..sometimes a steady daily dose of Kroil, as you are using as well as an impact gun can break them loose. I have a trailer shop here in my neck of the woods that sells a complete 3500# hub, bearings, seal, nuts and dust cap for $41...

Hey Rick... A few blocks over from me is a trailer supply that will sell me everything I need for $730. Of course no tires and rims included.

2....Back plate w/brakes assembled
2....Brake drums complete
2....HUbs complete (For rear axle)
1....Actuator, 6000 lbs
4....2400 lbs springs
1....Brake line kit
All necessary galvanized u-bolts, nuts, etc.

What ya think? Best deal I've found even after searching the web! Got hold of a oxy/acet torch and am going to try and cut rear of hub stubs and pound them thru.

Good heads up..shoulda realized the brakes were shot as well...

Price sounds good! Looks like a complete system.

Good luck with the rims...those studs look like they are welded on...
