You are the first person I have heard from that has had issue with these props. What exactly is your issue?

Solas has excellent customer support, and until now, I've heard nothing else.
I've tested a ton or props for them and had other folks run some of their products and comment on them....zero trouble has been the norm.
As mentioned above, "what" is your trouble?

You are welcome to describe the facts of your experience. You are not welcome to generally bash without facts.

So, tell us why you feel that way, OK? Rants without facts are useless, pretty much.

Let's hear the details of what went wrong.

Huh? I can't understand your post. Is English a second language for you? If so, I'll try to make it out.

I did see your other thread, regarding the thickness of the thrust washer, so I went to the Solas website. You said what drive and engine you had, so I tried to find a listing for it. Solas had nothing about Mercruiser on their website. So, they don't seem to know that people are selling their prop for use on Mercruiser outdrives. That seems very odd.

Then, I went to the iboats.com prop finder and used your Mercruiser 260 Alpha One information, and did find that prop model number on the list of recommended props for that application.

Still, Solas doesn't list any Mercruiser props on its website. That's confusing.

Where did you buy the prop? Can't you simply return it and buy a different prop? I realize that the prop you chose was very inexpensive, but if it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.

If there is a language barrier in communicating with Solas customer support, consider finding someone who can communicate in standard English. Your post is very hard to understand.

no is not my second lenguage probable is kind of hard for me make other people understand, I bought this prop from iboats.com and they told me is the correct number, even solas they told me the prop is the right one for my boat, and what about the mercruiser dealer? I went there they understand the problem, I work for a autoparts store for 8 years and I know about sizes and when something is not right, the other thing that I was thinking Can be posible that they put the wrong prop in the wrong box? anyway Im going to return the prop and buy another brand.

it may be that the thrust washer that is actually on your boat is a different thickness than the one that it came from the factory with, or that to run any more modern prop that you need the thinner thrust washer. I've put two different solas props on two different alpha drives in the past year and had no problems. how thick is the thrust washer you're putting in front of the prop?

OK, well...

Disregarding your writing skills, return the prop for a refund, then go to your mercruiser dealer and buy a prop. Tow your boat to the dealership, and install the prop right there in the parking lot. If it doesn't fit, walk it right back into the store.

Yes, it is entirely possible for the wrong prop to go in a box. Happens all the time. I'm sure iboats will refund when you return it.

For $109, plus shipping, it's not worth bothering with further, in my opinion. But...next time, buy your prop at a place where you can see if it fits before leaving the place.

Re: Void Solas Prop They Are Really Sh...

It could be that the thrust washer that was on your boat was the wrong size and was changed at some point to accomodate a prop that wasn't the right fit to begin with. If that were the case, most cust service folks aren't going to know squat about it. Also keep in mind that solas sells props a lot cheaper than some of the others... as in 2/3 or less the cost of a new merc. the money has to come from somewhere - especially in this economy. You're probably going to experience poorer customer service from a lot of marine vendors as they get further squeezed to maintain their operations with declining sales and profits.

Not making excuses for a company, just pointing out a few things...

Re: Void Solas Customer Service Not Good.

Not to seem negative, we want you to have a good experience at this, however, your communication skills could use some fine tuning. As mentioned earlier by someone else, english does not seem to be your primary language. The way you assemble sentences is not what is taught in American schools and some of your words are not what we recognize as normal. This makes it very hard for someone at Solas, or Iboats to understand what you are having a problem with. Also how to best serve you. I have much customer service experience in the foreign car market and have delt with people from many different nations, it is always a challange to get them what they want. Just because I don't understand what they are saying. I believe Solas and Iboats both can help you but they need help understanding the problem. Getting angry, though natrual, just delays getting what you need. Hope we can help you again if there is ever another problem. Happy Boating.

Hi Walleyehed,
As a person who speaks english as a second language, He had a fitting problem with a solas propeller he purchased from iboats.com. It ended up being the wrong size washer and i belive he purchased the right size washer and propeller fits right now.. So there isn't any problem right at this moment...everything seems like good to go as we chat...

Re: Void Solas Prop They Are Really Sh...

Thanks there, Sammy...
sometimes the problems are self-induced...such as having an after-market style hub that uses something other than OEM, then they try to install an OEM style prop down the road and wonder why it doesn't fit with the old thrust washer. I even change the amount of venting by playing with different thrust washers..as long as they fit the fwd hub and don't allow the prop housing to rub, you can change performance quite a bit just by playing with the thrust washers......these problems, such as above, start when folks don't understand the purposes of the thrust washers.
