For those who have a 19' Lowe, what size is your motor? I've seen other brand 19' aluminum boats with motors as low as 30hp and as large as 125hp. For those with lower hp motors, what's your wot speed?

Not sure what 19 footer your referring too Seon but this 18.5 will take up to a 150.
I can imagine a 19 footer with a 30 on it but then again I guess it could be a very light 19 footer?.........Irv964

Re: Hp for 19 footer ?

Since buying my 19' center console, I'm noticing more and more aluminum boats like Alumweld (?), Starcraft, Gregor, Valco etc with consoles that's running 30hp up to 125hp. I mostly see these boats while driving so it's difficult to ask the owners how the particular HP handles their boat. It just amazes me as to the wide range of hp of a 700-1000 lb aluminum boat.

There's a guy I see on our lake quite often and he has what loks like a 16-17 foot Crestliner with a 40 on it, I have seen him try and give er but it will not get up on plane, it is way worse when his wife is with him, all he is doing is plowing a ton of water with the bow way up in air. I can't imagine that being good for that poor 40 as it is working very hard! Also when it comes time to sell, I imagine anyone who knows something about boats will really question a 40 on a boat that is probably rated for at least a 90? I know I wouldn't purchase it, especially knowing how hard that little 40 has to work!
When I bought my Lowe, I wanted the max hp motor that the boat was rated for, I didn't want to have an underpowered boat trying to do the things that the boat was designed for........Irv964
