Part number 0388278 is available,it is the whole float chamber assembly and should have the fuel inlet fitting..41 bucks dealer price..

#29 in the diagram...

If I buy that part new what else do I need to get with it in order to put it all back together correctly. Gaskets etc.

Buy that part, the carb rebuild kit being it needs to be taken apart anyway and the fuel pump...
Have you done a compression test on the motor? It may be a good idea before you spend money on these parts. Unless you know its a good running motor before it was broken...

I'd remove carb, remove bowl, see if the broken slug can be removed from the bowl ...then try silver soldering it, slide both broken parts onto a greased rod to align the parts , then apply acid , heat and solder.
run a drill through the bore of the nipple after to clean it up inside.

I bet it snapped ( at both ends) because the hose needs to be supported in the middle, make sure the fix includes a hose support or it will do it again.

The pump , just buy another.

I know the motor runs, because after we fixed the wiring we fired it up. It ran with the hole in the hose, but it needed
to be fixed so we took it off, and now this problem. I am seeing that it shouldn't be that hard to fix myself. I have
never taken apart a motor before, but I have a camera, and I can take a million pics while I take it apart, and that should
help me put it back together. So it's a part# 29, a carb rebuild kit, and a fuel pump. I should be able to wrangle that
up for around $100.00 or so. I guess I have all winter to fix it. If I can't do it I guess I'll be taking my boat, and a bag
of parts to the mechanic to put back together. ;)

Here is a great deal on a rare hard to find OEM service manual..
The best money you will spend on that motor.
It will step you through the carb rebuild. These books are loaded with info, diagrams for everything up to a complete rebuild..Great books.
I payed 75 bucks for the last one i bought.
The aftermarket manuals are junk and they run around 30 bucks or so..

A competent carburetor rebuild shop should have no problem making a repair.
That type of fitting is often just press-fit and they should be able to remove the stub and fit a replacement that matches the old at an acceptable cost.
If you are not in an population centre that has such a business, send me a PM and I will provide the name of a superb shop in rural Ohio that does this type of work and does most of their business via UPS.

I may have a 35hp Johnson carb from that era. I'll take a look. I don't know how to post pics here so if you want one, email me at rmj_atkinson[AT]yahoo.co.uk (UKaddress, but I am in NZ).

My advice would be to call up laingsoutboards.com and ask them for a carb bowl for your motor, and buy the fuel pump piece that has the nipple on it from them or brand new. Shouldn't run you more than $100 bucks total. If you go to a mechanic, it's going to cost a lot more because they don't have time to search for used parts.
Good luck,
